Job Description

- Located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois
- Load & Unload: Safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to load and unload inbound/outbound trailers, ocean containers, and air cargo.
- Freight Staging: Move, stack, and stage freight in designated warehouse zones based on destination, shipment type (import/export), and carrier schedules.
- Palletizing & Wrapping: Build, shrink-wrap, band, and secure pallets to ensure cargo integrity during international and domestic transit.
- Weighing & Dimensioning: Accurately measure, weigh, and record the dimensions of outgoing freight to ensure compliance with airline and shipping line regulations
- Tracking: Utilize RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track the movement of goods, update inventory records, and ensure accurate put-away and picking.
- Quality Control: Inspect inbound and outbound freight for damage, discrepancies, or missing items. Immediately report any shortages or quality issues to management.
- Labeling: Ensure all freight is properly labeled with routing information, handling instructions, and compliance tags
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily pre-shift inspections on forklifts and equipment; log maintenance records and report mechanical issues or unsafe equipment immediately.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and specific freight forwarding security standards (e.g., TSA screening requirements, Customs bonded warehouse rules).
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including sweeping docks and clearing empty pallets/debris.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Valid, up-to-date Forklift Operator Certification (OSHA-compliant preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating a forklift, preferably in a fast-paced freight forwarding, logistics, or 3PL environment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with RF scanners, basic computer skills, and an understanding of warehouse management systems.
- Detail-Oriented: Basic math skills and the ability to accurately read shipping documents, bills of lading, and packaging labels.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently or collaborate with warehouse clerks, truck drivers, and supervisors.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations and elevated noise levels.
