Job Description
Pay: $47,500 - $52,000
Location: Minooka, IL (onsite)
Schedule: 10am start time
Note: This operation runs 24/7, and individual schedules are determined by volume and client needs. Weekend availability is required and the facility is only closed three days each year.
- Supervise associates within the Freezer Department, as well as Shipping/Receiving personnel and warehouse office clerks as assigned.
- Provide daily leadership and direction to ensure production, quality, safety, and productivity expectations are consistently achieved.
- Assign employee duties and coordinate daily workloads based on production requirements and business needs.
- Schedule employee break periods, work hours, and vacations to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Conduct periodic employee performance evaluations in accordance with applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Coach, train, and develop employees to improve performance, productivity, safety, and overall departmental effectiveness.
- Assist other warehouse supervisors and associates with warehouse policies, departmental procedures, operational requirements, and job responsibilities.
- Work closely with employees to ensure quality and productivity expectations are clearly communicated, understood, and maintained.
- Follow up on customer concerns and complaints, review discrepancy reports, and assist with implementing appropriate resolutions.
- Maintain positive customer relationships by ensuring operational issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Maintain overall responsibility for proper sanitation practices throughout the Freezer Department and assigned warehouse and office areas.
- Ensure employees comply with established warehouse safety, sanitation, quality, and operational procedures.
- Supervise and enforce established seal policies and procedures for outbound loads.
- Monitor daily workflow and make staffing or operational adjustments as necessary to support production requirements.
- Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
- Serve as a team builder by encouraging communication, accountability, collaboration, and employee engagement.
- Partner with warehouse leadership to identify and resolve operational challenges and improve departmental performance.
- Maintain accurate communication with management regarding staffing, productivity, quality, customer concerns, and other operational issues.
- Must be flexible and willing to work additional or alternate shifts as necessary to support business needs.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to effectively manage a warehouse production team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of independently implementing and supervising departmental processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- High level of computer literacy and experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees and all levels of management.
- Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a diverse workforce.
- Previous warehouse supervisory experience required.
- Previous experience within a wholesale, distribution, or similar warehouse environment preferred.
- Some college-level education or management training preferred but not required with appropriate supervisory experience.
- Some college-level coursework or management education preferred.
- Minimum of two years of warehouse supervisory experience, preferably within a wholesale, distribution, production, or similar environment.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant supervisory experience may be considered.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other warehouse or production-related computer systems.
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with employees and all levels of management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Ability to identify operational issues, evaluate potential solutions, and take appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to effectively manage and lead a diverse workforce while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety expectations.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout warehouse and production areas as required.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to work within refrigerated and freezer environments as required.
