Job Description
- Starting at up to $25/hour, paid weekly

- Located in Houston, TX
- Process and support weekly payroll for field and office employees accurately and on schedule, including certified payroll
- Review employee timekeeping records for completeness and accuracy prior to payroll processing
- Research and resolve missing punches, incorrect hours, pay-rate discrepancies, overtime issues, and other payroll exceptions
- Coordinate with field supervisors and management to resolve timekeeping issues before payroll deadlines
- Process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, reimbursements, and other payroll-related employee changes
- Ensure proper application of regular time, overtime, and applicable pay rates
- Review payroll information for accuracy before final processing
- Support payroll-related job costing and proper allocation of employee labor
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation
- Process and monitor payroll deductions, including benefits and retirement-plan deductions.
- Assist with payroll corrections and adjustments when necessary
- Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and timely
- Reconcile payroll information and assist Finance/Accounting with payroll reporting as needed
- Coordinate with HR regarding employee status changes, benefits, leave, and other payroll-impacting transactions
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation, payroll, and personal information
- Follow established internal controls and payroll procedures to ensure continuity during the Payroll Specialist's leave
- Three or more years of hands-on payroll processing experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Direct experience with Miter, Spectrum/Viewpoint and LCP Tracker is a significant plus, but strong construction payroll experience with comparable systems may be considered
- Experience independently processing a high-volume hourly payroll
- Construction payroll experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with field employees, hourly employees, overtime, multiple pay rates, and job-costed labor preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll deductions, taxes, benefits deductions, and payroll controls
- Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot payroll discrepancies
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet strict weekly payroll deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with employees and supervisors at multiple organizational levels
- Ability to quickly learn existing processes and operate independently with limited supervision
- Strong discretion and confidentiality when handling employee information
