Job Description
The Supply Chain Manager oversees all supply chain activities within a busy grocery distribution center, including cold chain logistics, inventory flow, vendor coordination, transportation scheduling, and team leadership. This position ensures products move through the facility efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with food-handling and temperature-control standards. This position ensures that grocery products move safely, efficiently, and on time through the supply chain protecting product quality, supporting store operations, and maintaining customer trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Cold Chain Leadership — Manage temperature-controlled product movement from receiving through storage, picking, and outbound shipping; ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
- Distribution Center Operations — Oversee daily workflow in a high-volume grocery DC, including inbound scheduling, outbound routing, dock operations, and inventory accuracy.
- Team Management — Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and associates; set performance expectations; manage staffing, scheduling, and training.
- Inventory & Forecasting — Monitor stock levels, shrink, spoilage, and replenishment cycles; partner with procurement and merchandising teams to maintain optimal inventory.
- Vendor & Carrier Coordination — Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics partners to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
- Process Improvement — Analyze KPIs, identify bottlenecks, and implement efficiency, safety, and quality improvements across the supply chain.
- Compliance & Safety — Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, temperature-control standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of supply chain experience within food distribution, food manufacturing, or food production environments.
- Proven cold chain logistics expertise.
- Experience managing teams in a busy grocery store distribution center or similar high-volume environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory flow, warehouse operations, and transportation scheduling.
- Proficiency with WMS, forecasting tools, and supply chain software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have intermediate to advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-temperature facilities (frozen, refrigerated, ambient).
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, or other food safety programs.
- Background in continuous improvement or Lean methodologies.
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to work in varying temperature zones, including refrigerated and frozen areas.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and walk the warehouse floor regularly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced distribution environment with shifting priorities.
