How To Write An Effective Resume

How To Write An Effective Resume First impressions are everything. Whether you’re meeting someone for a first date, heading in for your first day of school, or applying for a new job, it’s super important to plan ahead so that you’re always ready to impress. While those first two situations might seem a little different than job hunting (and a lot more exciting), everybody has to work! With that in mind, this blog is going to focus on first impressions with employers, specifically resumes. No matter the job, no matter the employer, your initial point of contact when submitting your application is your resume. But what makes a resume stand out? Take a look at the tips below to help build your resume and land your next job:TELL THEM WHO YOU AREYou could have decades of amazing experience, all the skills in the world, and references for your references; however, none of that matters if you don’t tell hiring managers who you are. It may seem simple, but the first thing every employer looks for when reviewing resumes is the name of the candidate and their contact details. Be sure to feature this information in a prominent place. Think of it as your business card. Employers will want to know who you are, the city you live in, and how to get in touch if they decide to bring you in for an interview.SHOW OFF!Alright, so the employer knows who you are. Now tell them why they should hire you! Create a list of your greatest hits and ask yourself what stands out the most. Do you have management experience? Or do you have unique certifications? If you have a proven track record of success, show it off and mention all of your proudest accomplishments. Be sure to keep things relevant to the job you are applying for, but don’t be shy! This is your chance to brag a little bit. Try using numbers as key performance indicators to illustrate your experience in a way that’s easy to understand.KEEP IT SIMPLE AND KEEP IT ACCURATENow that you have your experience laid out and your key accomplishments spoken for, take a moment to review your document. Hiring managers receive hundreds of resumes each week, so their time is precious. How To Write An Effective Resume

First impressions are everything.

Take a look at the tips below to help build your resume and land your next job:

TELL THEM WHO YOU ARE

You could have decades of amazing experience, all the skills in the world, and references for your references; however, none of that matters if you don’t tell hiring managers who you are. It may seem simple, but the first thing every employer looks for when reviewing resumes is the name of the candidate and their contact details. Be sure to feature this information in a prominent place. Think of it as your business card. Employers will want to know who you are, the city you live in, and how to get in touch if they decide to bring you in for an interview.

SHOW OFF!

Alright, so the employer knows who you are. Try using numbers as key performance indicators to illustrate your experience in a way that’s easy to understand.

KEEP IT SIMPLE AND KEEP IT ACCURATE

Now that you have your experience laid out and your key accomplishments spoken for, take a moment to review your document. Hiring managers receive hundreds of resumes each week, so their time is precious. Eliminate long blocks of text within your resume and avoid including unnecessary sections that could overwhelm the reader. Keep it crisp and clear so that it can be read at a glance. Once you feel confident in your message, give the document a final review to check for spelling errors and general inaccuracies.

Now more than ever job hunting can be a stressful experience. That’s why Accurate Personnel is here to help!
