Job Title:Industrial Controls Tech II

Pay Range:$33 - $36

Shift:Sunday-Thursday 6pm - 2:30am or UNTIL WORK COMPLETE

Job Summary:
The Industrial Controls Tech II is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing materials handling equipment, automated picking systems, and other facility systems to ensure operational efficiency. This role requires strong expertise in electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems and the ability to perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute effective preventative maintenance plans for facility equipment and systems.

  • Diagnose and repair issues related to Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) and Automated Picking Systems.

  • Oversee maintenance, modifications, and system upgrades of MHE and automation controls.

  • Assess the efficiency of equipment and define necessary modifications to improve performance.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to maintain warehouse productivity.

  • Maintain CMMS/EAM system for tracking repairs and maintenance activities.

  • Manage inventory of spare parts and ensure availability for critical repairs.

  • Work extended hours as needed to meet productivity goals.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Technical vocational training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance; strong electrical background preferred.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, illustrated parts breakdown (IPB) diagrams, and electrical circuitry diagrams.

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, including AC/DC motors, power supplies, frequency drives, motor starters, proximity sensors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

  • Knowledge of testing equipment for electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and refrigeration systems.

  • Understanding of PLC programming, wiring, and troubleshooting of controllers, HMIs, and other automation systems.

  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, IM) and MHE software (e.g., RSLogix, Sort Director, GSMi, IPoint, Flex Sort).

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network and communication issues with devices connected to MHE networks (e.g., PROFIBUS, PROFINET, BACNET, LONWORKS, CAN-BUS, ASI).

  • Experience operating and diagnosing HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and other facility systems.

  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve maintenance problems efficiently.

  • Ability to mentor junior technicians and provide training as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and respond to urgent maintenance issues as needed.

  • Work may involve exposure to warehouse environments, including varying temperatures and physical demands such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
