A Day in the Life of Chance Rose: Keyboard Craftsman and Barista Extraordinaire
Deep within the technological trenches that are Accurate Personnel’s IT office, Chance Rose sits among the chaos of cables and keyboards in his workplace sanctuary. The Systems Administrator at AP, Chance has been keeping the servers humming for our team for just about 2 and a half years now in our Schaumburg office. Armed with a precision-crafted cup of coffee strong enough to jump-start a satellite, Chance begins his daily adventures through the digital realm by sharing a laugh with the HR and Legal teams.
A graduate of DePaul University, Chance was originally hired as an IT Support Specialist, before quickly moving up into the role of IT Support Analyst and eventually into his current position early last year.
In that time, Chance has seen the scope of his work grow and he has taken on a wider set of responsibilities within the IT Department. “My favorite work-related memory is traveling to Indianapolis to set up the Speedway branch,” says Rose. “It was my first branch that I have traveled out to and set up prior to the Grand Opening. It was a really interesting experience and was a fun challenge.”
The secret to Chance’s success in the ever-changing landscape of IT lies in his arsenal of digital tools. Asana is a crucial part of his daily process, helping his team remain organized throughout the workday and keep up with all of the ongoing office relocations and openings each year.
In addition to Asana, Chance utilizes the Notes app to keep up with new incoming tickets and prefers to take each project one step at a time, ensuring that every task is given the proper attention required. His ideal workday consists of him taking a tough task and, “breaking it into smaller tasks and getting into a rhythm once one is completed,” adds Rose.
To keep in constant contact with his team, he also relies on Slack. “It has a lot of features that are incredibly useful for teams that aren't always in direct contact with each other, as well as a suite of integrations that connect to our other systems,” adds Rose.
When the going gets tough and he’s ready for a break from the tech grind, Chance never shies away from recharging by brewing up another cup of coffee with the finesse of a seasoned barista. “I enjoy coffee quite a bit,” says Rose. “I was a Supervisor at Starbucks for several years before I finished college. This has imbued me with an extensive coffee knowledge.” The folks at Corporate North might need to consider sending in tickets asking him for help with their next caffeine fix.
The pride and joy of his workspace is his custom-crafted Lord of the Rings-themed keyboard that he built in his spare time. Sharp enough to make Aragorn blush, it illustrates Rose’s passion for his work. “I’ve built around 5 keyboards so far,” adds Rose. “All very fun and unique builds.”
Asked about his favorite work-related tradition, Chance mentioned that he always enjoys the company Christmas party at the end of the year. “It is always nice to see every branch on the Google Meet,” says Rose. “As well as everyone that comes into the Schaumburg Corporate office that we haven’t seen in a bit.”
So here’s to Chance Rose, a true pillar of IT support for the Accurate Personnel team. May your days be filled with great coffee, fast servers, and thoughts of Middle Earth adventures. Cheers to you, Chance
